Please update Contributor Role (broken)

  • I’ve created a test contributor account for my website and noticed several issues regarding usability. Firstly, contributor accounts are able to view site-wide stats to the website they are contributing to. This is fairly meaningless as they are granted more access than their role should be given (which is to contribute rather than to manage).

Please develop a way for administrators to disable or edit this privilege. Another suggestion would be that contributor accounts are only shown what they need to see: the stats of their posts.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • See: https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#contributor

I agree with you 100% on this. Staff review all threads in the Ideas Forum and contact those who make suggestions at the email address entered here https://wordpress.com/me, if and only if they decide to make the changes requested. There is no such thing as an urgent request.

  • Thanks for the tip. Even if there’s “no such thing as an urgent request”, there’s always the urgent tag! see: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/urgent. Cheers.

  • If you are a Business plan user and need more granular control you might ask Staff if there is a recommended plugin that does this. When you are logged in to the username account that purchased the upgrade, you can start a Live Chat here https://wordpress.com/help/contact Fill out the form and if someone is available the button will change to “start chat” or something similar.

Live Chat is available 24/5 and limited hours on weekend. If no one is available to chat, the button will allow you to send a support ticket to Support via the same form.
