Parent Categories on Menu

  • I have had a site using twenty twelve theme for years. Today, I accidentally changed the theme to another and immediately switched it back. Once I did, the side menu was lost so I had to reconstruct it. When I added Categories List in the widgets it now lists all my categories alphabetically but ignores all Parent Categories so everything is unorganized. Is there something I’m missing? Is there a way to edit it to get the category hierarchies back? Any kind of work-around?

  • What a fun site! 🖖 Your Categories List Block has a hierarchy setting that needs to be toggled. Here’s how to find it:

    WP
    Blocks » Categories List Block
    4 min read
The Categories List block displays a list of categories based on your previously published posts by category. This can be handy for readers who want to find more of your posts about certain topics. Add the Categories List Block To add the Categories List block, click on the + Block Inserter icon and search for “categories list”. Click it to add the block to the post or page. 💡
