Ocean Mist not Rendering well in Firefox

  • I use Ocean mist for our blog at http://blog2dot0.wordpress.com/

It seemed to working fine so far, however, the content in the side bar is getting displaced (outside the side-bar). This seems to be a Firefox issue – because the sidebar seems to be rendering fine in IE7. It just so happens that I used Windows Live Writer to put up the recent post. (WLR worked fine with my other blog at http://squarepegroundhole.wordpress.com/

I tried (a) resetting the widgets (removed avataars) (b) cleaned the cache and (c) switched themes and checked.

    Windows XP SP2
    Firefox 2.0.0.4
    IE 7
    1280×800 (32bit)

    Any suggestions for fixing this?

  • I just went through the process of switching and checking everything as well. Yesterday everything looked great with Ocean Mist; today all my widgets are doing the same wonky thing, and I didn’t use WLR to add a post. I do use Firefox.

The widgets I’m using are text, categories, links, archives and blog stats.

    Hmmmm…mysterious.

  • Same thing has happened to me….I made recent posts using the wordpress site. Yesterday it was fine, today it’s wonky.

  • Same thing happened to me also. Is Support working on this? It is a problem not only of firefox but also on explorer. It seemed to happen starting this morning on July 5th!

I’m also having the same issue and have tried the same things to fix it – all to no avail. In Firefox and Netscape they’re off to one side, in Safari for Windows they’re off to one side a bit (but not as much) in IE they’re all displaced to under the category listing and in Opera the list is OK but the titles are slightly offset.

Did someone mess with the CSS script for this template?

  • I stopped by to post today and found the same problem. Everything in the r.h. column appears to be displaced, but only in Firefox. I brought the page up in Slimbrowser (IE overlay) and it looks ok. I did all the usual… clearing my browser cache, switching templates then back again, playing with the widgets… all to no avail.

I really like this template the best of all of them, so let’s all put out the intention that it gets fixed soon ;-)

Oh, and to the folks in Support: Thanks for all you do to fix these things when they crop up!

    Cheers.

  • Would someone please report http://extremehomebizsuccess.wordpress.com/ as a SEO blog please. You’ll have to forgive me. i don’t feel like dealing with staff today.

  • My Sidebar of Ocean Mist is displaced, too. If i replaced the standard sidebar with my custom items it looks very strange. I will use the standard sidebar as long as the problem is not solved. Hopefuly someone could help us!
    greets jo

  • Ocean Mist is being fixed right now.

  • I don’t think it is fixed yet. I suppose they are still working on it.

  • @aast
Would you care to leave a link to your blog so staff can locate it?

  • Please someone who are skilled with css fix this nice theme

  • @aast
lol … you’re welcome. In case staff doesn’t see this post or simply thinks the problem has been solved for everyone using OceanMist you may want to send a feedback in to staff.

Provided your blog does not have “mature” contents then why don’t you link your username to your blog like I have done? It’s very easy to do. We all have two profiles at wordpress.com. One on our blogs and one here in the forum.

Linking your username to your wp.com blog in the forum
    (1) Go up to the top right hand corner of this forum page and look for “Welcome, aast! View your profile” and click “View your profile”.

    (2) Next click “edit this information”.

    (3) Complete the fields being sure that where it says website that you enter http://aast.wordpress.com (no period at the end or the link won’t work)

    (4) Once you’re done click “Update Profile”. Voila! Now every time you sign into the forum we can click on your username and your blog will be linked to it.

    (5) Also note that there is a complete record of every post that you make to the forum on your forum profile page. Everyone in the forum can access it by simply clicking on “Member” next to your username. :)

  • @ jimmano

If you have read this thread that you posted into then you have already read above that the staff think they fixed it for everyone who had problems. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=12970&page&replies=17#post-93783

Now as you are still having problems then it’s logical that you do what I told the blogger immediately before you to do. You need to contact staff by sending in a feedback.

Please remove your email address ASAP so spam bots do not crawl it.
I don’t provide email advice. I have a tremendous email load already.
I only answer questions here on the forum. :)

  • @timethief

Sorry, where do WP staff say that it’s fixed? The link you give is for the post that says it’s being fixed – ie a work in progress.

  • That theme has about 25 floats and a couple of negative margins in the first 10 lines of the CSS. Its not surprising it has b0rked. :)
