Obscure use practices
-
All I wanted to do is reply to Martin Armstrong’s blog, but WordPress required that I have a login ID. I tried to register with dougrobertsca. However, that never seemed to give me access to make a reply.
In looking over your site(s) I found it/ them to be confusing and too complicated to use. I have created and run web sites and I am a Systems Programmer by profession and your site WordPress.xxx is the worst I have ever encountered.
If I have to spend more than a second to decide which site I am on then it is YOUR fault. Use a color code to distinguish between WordPress.com and WordPress.org like red versus blue. Make it obvious.
Briefly, I don’t care about WorPress and I will just send an Email to Mr. Armstrong.
Best wishes on improving your site(s),
Doug Roberts.

Martin Armstrong’s blog
We are unable to assist anyone who does not post an active link starting with http:// to the exact site they refer to. Please post the URL knowing there are over 38 million free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we don’t know if Martin Armstrong’s blog is actually being free hosted by WordPress.com until you provide the link.
-
If you are referring to this site http://armstrongeconomics.com/armstrong_economics_blog/ then it is not being hosted by WordPress.com and we do not provide support for it. We provide support only for free hosted WordPress.COM blogs if that’s the blog you mean then you are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate, have different log-ins and run different versions of themes with same names. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

Thank you for a reply.
The URL is http://armstrongeconomics.com/2014/01/I can not tell if WP is hosting the site or not but WP did ask for a login.
Regards.

That is a WordPress.ORG blog and they require you to be registered with their individual blog I think –
that is a WordPress.ORG log-in
-
I found the URL by using Google search. Click the “powered by WordPress” link in the footer please and note that it is a WordPress.ORG install.

For more on the difference: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
With “WordPress” powering something like 20% of the new web site in the world, millions & millions of sites, I don’t think the color code would go over very well

Thanks for the advice.
My suggestion was to improve WP service by using color coding to distinguishing between the WP.com and WP. org sites not color coding millions of hosted sites.
It seems I registered on WP.com and I should have registered on WP.org, but as a new registrant how in the name of reason was I supposed to know the difference?
Again thanks for a reply.
Best regards,
Doug Roberts -
Registering at WordPress.ORG will not help you comment on any blog. All WordPress.ORG does is the keeper of the WordPress software – the technical support for the WordPress.ORG software is done through .ORG and all the upgrades to the software
You would need to register on the individual blog –

If you can’t tell the difference between .org and .com, and you don’t know how commenting works, I hardly think your expertise is such that you can make insightful critiques of either.

When I try to leave a reply I am directed to the link
http://armstrongeconomics.com/wp-login.phpA box is headed “WordPress” that asks for “Username” and “Password” with a check box lebeled “Remember Me” and a button titled “Log In” with two links one titled “Lost your Password?” and another link tithle “<— Back to Armstrong Economics”.
I have nothing else to work with.
What do you suggest?
