Number of RSS widgets in side bar
-
I added an RSS widget to my sidebar, put in the URL of the blog concerned and instantly got the author title and date of the latest post on that blog showing (and updating). However adding several more of this widget to the sidebar from a range of different feeds (one a feedburner feed like the original one) and nothing shows up for these. My understanding is that you can have any number of RSS widgets (theme mistylook) in the sidebar. Is this correct? Am I setting them up wrongly?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I don’t know how many the maximum is but I do know you can use several. It all depends on whether or not you want a sidebar that’s a mile long. Are you sure entered the feed URLs correctly? http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/rss-widget/
-
Well I’ll recheck the URLs but they were just copied and pasted from the feed address in the bar. If you think it should be possible to have more than one I will keep investigating.
-
Ah, it’s the lack of “http://” at the start, but just adding that doesn’t completely solve problem, and I am not sure why some blogs are giving me the feed address without “http://”. I am ignorant of so much about how RSS works.
-
Can’t just add “http://” to those feed names, they begin with “feed://”. So what is going wrong with the RSS widget here?

This is the feed URL for this forum thread
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/rss/topic/number-of-rss-widgets-in-side-barThis is the feed for this blog’s posts – minus the square brackets
[http://davidhorton.wordpress.com/feed/]
This is the feed for this blog’s comments – minus the square brackets
[http://davidhorton.wordpress.com/feed/]If the http:// required on any URL feed or otherwise? Yes!
Do all feeds from for example Blogger blogl, tumblr blogs, etc. end with /feed/ – NO!
-
DANG! I made a mistake above.
This is the feed for this blog’s comments – minus the square brackets
http://davidhorton.wordpress.com/comments/feed/Bottom line: You need to get the correct and complete URL for each of the feeds and then put in into the widget.
-
Got it by trial and error. Yes, you can just substitute “http” for “feed” in the URL (the first one I tried has a problem with its feed anyway). Hooray. If Support is reading – you might add this to the general help for RSS-widgets.
Thank you timethief. Your time wasn’t wasted.

Except now my sidebar is sitting underneath the last post on each page. What has happened? Help?

It would be appreciated if we actually had the URL for the blog to which you are referring and could lay eyes on it. When posting to the forum please post the complete URL for the blog you are referring to starting with http://When falls below a post it’s usually because the blogger has copy and pasted code and there is an open HTML tag in one of the posts.
Go to settings > Writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then click “Save Changes.”
Now, starting with your latest post, open it in the editor, make one minor change such as adding a space and then deleting it, and then click “Update Post.” Check your blog and see if it is back to normal. If not, open the next post and do the same thing until it goes back to normal.

Thanks. I guess Staff got to them first. -
Hi timethief, I gave the URL in the third post above when you asked. Will follow advice. I did reverse some of the editing changes I made yesterday to no avail, but it must have been further back in the sequence. Hadn’t realised that editing a post could affect the layout! Will let you know progress – thank you for the quick reply.

GOT IT! Thank you so much – very impressed with the level of WordPress help for a struggling newby.
