  It seems that the tools for auto-tagging a post and creating links have disappeared from the create new post page? Or did I misconfigure something?

  Hi, I suppose you’re talking about the Zemanta feature. It has indeed been removed from WordPress.com, see the post here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/removing-zemanta-integration?replies=1
