Necessity of WP Accessibility

  • I was wondering if it’s useless to use a blind accessability controls on my site, since blind people already have programs such as JAWS to make a website accessible for you? I mean, there aren’t any laws requiring that it be there like ADA, right? I’m currently using WP Accessibility. Seems like it’s an unnecessary eyesore if that’s the case…

  • Hi there,

I’m afraid I’m not sure what you’re asking.

Are you having trouble using WordPress.com using assistive technology like a screen reader?

Or are you asking about making your own site accessible to visually impaired visitors?

    I’m currently using WP Accessibility

Is that a WordPress plugin? We don’t offer any feature or service on WordPress.com by that name. If it’s a plugin, it’s best that you contact support for that plugin directly for any help with it.

The forum you’re posting to here is for the hosting provider, WordPress.com, and we’re only able to help with sites that are hosted on our servers.

mean, there aren’t any laws requiring that it be there like ADA, right?

Answering that question would amount to giving legal advice, which I’m afraid we can’t do in this forum :)

For advice on any legal requirements your site might be subject to, please contact an attorney in your jurisdiction who specialises in this type of law.
