  Recently I receive many spam messages that get “pending” status instead of being directed automatically to the spam queue. I have the impression that the spam filter of WordPress was better a few weeks ago. The last message I got for instance has the following URL: “URL: http://%URL% ” It’s clearly a spam, he didn’t provide a real URL, so why is it not caught by the filter?

  I’ve noticed this as well. Until recently I would say that near on 100% of spam comments never made it to Pending, but recently quite a few seemingly obvious ones have appeared.
