Can I limit the number of characters for comments? As in, to twitter-like lengths?

No, and that would sooooo piss me off if I were going to comment on your site. I would simply go elsewhere and not come back. Ever.

Perhaps wordpress should instead limit author’s posts to only 140 characters.

Not quite the helpful response I was looking for. The blog is built around short social media submissions.

Seriously, if you want a twitter-like theme there’s one called P2. However as thesacredpath said above we cannot throttle comments.

OK, thanks! It is heavily linked to Twitter; I wanted to impose the same restriction on comments, but good to know.
