Layout options missing

  • Hello.I cannot find layout options when i am customizing. The theme I am using is Opti. The plan I am using is Premium.Maybe it due to the Premium plan?

  • Hi there!

Happy to help by looking into this further! Can you tell us a bit more about which layout options exactly you’re looking for? If you were following instructions from somewhere, you can share the link with us so that we can look into it ourselves.

I also wanted to let you know that your WordPress.com Premium plan gives you access to email support during the weekends and live chat support during the weekdays (Monday through Friday). I suggest taking advantage of the faster support by going to https://wordpress.com/help/contact and send us a message that way. You can chat with us live during the weekdays so we can help you much faster.

  • Hello!Thank you for your reply.I read the instruction in

    https://support.pipdig.co/articles/wordpress-how-to-change-the-width-of-your-website-and-sidebar/

↑here. In this article, the second step shows a button:”Layout Options”.But there is no “Layout Options” when I am customizing. There are only “Site Identity”,”Colors & Backgrounds”,”Fonts”,”Header Image”,”Menus”,”Widgets”,”Homepage Settings”,”Featured Content”,”Theme Options” and “Additional CSS”.I tried many themes but they all lost the “Layout Options” button.

I contacted to the email support of WordPress.com yesterday, but they have not reply yet.

  • Thank you for the link!

The instructions you were following are referring to the open-source WordPress software that you can download and install on your computer (to make it public, you’ll need a host too). Here, on WordPress.com, we run a modified version of that software, so the options you see are different.
As you can see in the screenshots, they are also using a different theme.

What exactly are you trying to modify? We may be able to give you some custom CSS that will help you with that.

Also, you can check out some other full-width themes here:

  • Thank you for your reply.

I am trying to change the width of the site.I mean, the contents area. And I don’t know how to use CSS.Could you teach me how to modify it by CSS?

  • Hi there!

You can learn the CSS basics on this page: https://wordpress.com/support/css-basics/ (Don’t forget to check out the resources at the bottom of that page as well!)

However, changing the site width may require advanced CSS code, which can be out of our scope of CSS support. Our CSS experts can look into it for you.

As you have the WordPress.com Premium plan, you have access to live chat and email support. You can reach out to us for faster support at this link: https://wordpress.com/help/contact

Could you go to the link above and send us more details about the changes you’d like in your site? Our Happiness Engineer will be happy to look into it for you to see if the CSS changes needed are within our scope of support (If they are, we’ll help you with the code).
