indent first line of each paragraph of stories on website

I spent hours yesterday putting in CSS codes to try and indent each line of each paragraph in the stories on my website. All it did was to indent all the first lines of my thumbnails for each story, but not the stories themselves. I am lost and don’t understand what I am doing wrong. Please help, any ideas?
