Any help navigating this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes, it’s a .XML file, it reads ( blog-03-12-2021 )
It appears to do the entire import and then at the very end I get the error message.

I’m importing from https://www.spankystokes.com/ (blogger site) and I’m trying to see if I can import my content over to spankystokes.wordpress.com (wordpress.com test site – it’s not live yet though).
Just trying to see if it’s even possible before I pull the trigger on all the bells and whistles in the upgraded business plan etc.
-
Hm, I’m not even seeing any import attempts in that site’s logs, so we’ll need to rule-out some things before the import even starts.
First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

Updated my browser ( it’s current now)
Cleared my cache and cookies
Turned off all add-ons and extensionsI tried re-importing the site again with a new downloaded .XML file – still receiving the same error.

Hi there,
I can confirm that we do not seem to be getting the XML file on our end. Can you save it as a .zip format, and upload it here so we can take a closer look? https://spankystokes.wordpress.com/wp-admin/media-new.php
Let us know when the zip file (with your XML inside) is uploaded and we will take a closer look.
Also I noticed that the Blogger site at spankystokes.com is quite large (approx. 35,000 blog posts) which is a very (!) big import to attempt, regardless of the platforms involved. With this in mind it may take a bit more work to bring that across than it might normally with a smaller Blogger site.
Out of curiosity I see you mentioned the Business plan. Can you tell us a bit more about why you are considering that upgrade? It may be the case that there is a 3rd party plugin that would be more helpful in completing this import, and if you are thinking of upgrading we might steer you toward that option instead. Thanks for the additional info!

Ok… tried many times to upload the file – give me an error stating “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.” soooooo… here is the link to my file via my dropbox ( https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1n69lda35b0om3g/AABYKhKRa48JdWJvfXf0ky71a?dl=0 )
Yes, I realize my site is large, it’s one of the biggest sites on the internet for designer art toys… been at it since 2008 and need a change. The smaller plans that WordPress offers are very hindering and it looks like the only way I can use custom templates ( which I already bought without knowing I can’t use them unless I have the business plan ) is to be on the business plan, that’s why.
That being said… I’m not gonna pull the trigger on $300 a year commitment without knowing if I can transfer my site – this is my livleyhood, so I’m trying to protect that before making a HUGE switch.

Hi there,
I’m getting the same error on my end. Can you create a new export file in case the one you’re using is corrupted?
-
Created and new file is uploaded with todays date ( https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1n69lda35b0om3g/AABYKhKRa48JdWJvfXf0ky71a?dl=0 ) thanks so much for trying to help me figure this out.

Hi there,
I am seeing CSS in the XML file. You need to make sure that you are not importing the theme along with your content. Try importing only the content using the instructions Google provides here:
https://href.li/?https://support.google.com/blogger/answer/41387?hl=en&rd=1
Hope that helps. Let me know once the import is updated.
Thanks!

Hey, thanks for trying to help… this link you sent, with the instructions on how to download my content from Blogger – this is exactly what I am doing
-
Hmm, in that case, could you reach out directly to Google to get help exporting a text-only file?
-
I used a new service GOOGLE offers called ‘Takeout’ where it packages the entire site with everything in it and with this is the ATOM xml file and they said this is text only so I hope this is it…. ( https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1n69lda35b0om3g/AABYKhKRa48JdWJvfXf0ky71a?dl=0 )

Hello there,
Many thanks for that.
I’ve taken a look at that the Takeout directory there and it looks like it’s the HTML files and directory of the blogger site, which isn’t importable.
Are you able to check if they supplied an ATOM xml file?
Many thanks in advance.

Hello… it appears the ATOM xml file is in this directory – does that work?
