But, if I would see the Babel Fish Box (the gadget) in my blog… what can I do? (I tried with this script (from Altavista): <script type=”text/javascript” language=”JavaScript1.2″ src=”http://www.altavista.com/help/free/inc_translate”></script> <noscript></noscript>… but don’t work in a text widget.

we can’t use javascript in our wordpress.com blogs.

Although you cannot use javascript, you can do what I suggested above and provide your readers with a link in a text widget to the Babel Fish translator that they can use.
