Image upload problems

    I have been experiencing problems uploading images to my blog for the last couple of weeks, and it is driving me crazy.

    Formerly, I thought the trouble was reserved to png files, which seemed to either upload with extreme lag, (about 45 minutes per picture), or cease uploading at all.

    Then I have discovered recently that jpg files also seem to be problematic, as when I attempt to upload them, the browser stops responding when I open folders and reopens the tab at the post I was working on.
    I have had these problems through both upload media option in posts, and the upload in the media library.

    Is it something I’m doing incorrectly? Can it be fixed, and if so, how can I fix it?
