    If you already own a domain and wish to use it for a WordPress.com website, you can choose either of the below options:

    1) Domain Mapping: You may map your existing domain to a WordPress.com site. This means that the domain will point to your WordPress.com site irrespective of the domain registrar (or domain provider).     2) You may transfer a domain you already own to WordPress.com. Consider looking at this support page for more details: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

    in order to start clean.

    You do not require any cleanup of your website to map or transfer your existing domain to have WordPress.com site. However, if you are still looking forward to deleting your WordPress.com site then here is the support page that will help you with the steps: https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/. Please note that deleting a website permanently removes it and you may not be able to use it again on WordPress.com address.
