I cannot pull up my blog in Reader using my tag Combat!.

  • I set up three or four tags with my new blog, Stories of Combat! (storiesofcombat.wordpress.com). But I can’t pull it up in Reader using Combat! as a tag.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

You most likely do not see the tag because your site is only 15 hours old and very new sites take a bit to show up in some tags. For more information on missing tags and their root causes, please visit:

    Hope this helps!

  • I read that and checked to make sure it was public in profile. It was. I went to reader, but still didn’t see it show up yet. I’ll keep trying.

One other question, if I may. What are categories, and how could they benefit me with a short story blog? I wish I knew how to use them and what they are. Thanks!

  • Hi there,

Categories provide a helpful way to group related posts together, usually around a shared topic. For example, if you are a blogger who likes to write about travel, cooking, and politics, those topics will all appear together on the main blog feed.

However, you might wish to separate those out a bit, so you have a page on your site called “Travel” that shows only your posts related to travel, and a “Recipes” page that shows only the blog posts related to your cooking, etc.

The ability to do that starts with first adding the categories to the posts themselves, to identify what topic (or topics) the post most fits under. That way someone who is interested in seeing more of your writings about that topic can more easily explore them since they have been “grouped” by you.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
