How to show post titles on homepage + category pages?
-
The post titles only show when you’re looking at an individual post. On the home page or where it shows a list of posts, it only shows my featured image but no titles to know what the post is even about. Does anyone know how I can have them show?
I’m using the free theme called Photos by Automattic.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I found an earlier forum thread on this same subject and it looks like this is not possible with the Photos theme even with custom CSS: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/i-need-the-blog-page-homepage-to-show-the-titles-on-the-thumbnails/
There is another older theme, Cubic, mentioned in that thread that might work for you instead. https://wordpress.com/theme/cubic
Also, with the new full-site editing themes, it might be possible to customize your theme to display titles as you wish, but I’ve flagged staff for their input. Thanks for your patience.

Hi there,
As @justjennifer mentioned, there’s no way to show the posts’ titles. This is because that theme is specifically designed with photography in mind.
I recommend switching to a newer theme that fully supports the new Site Editor and fully customize it to match your needs.

Hey @fstat, I think we might need a detailed tutorial on how one can display cover blocks with post titles as the index/homepage. :) From my full site editing experiments, it doesn’t seem to be very straightforward to implement.
Alternately, maybe the Theme team would consider adding a new theme with that feature which customers can then activate and use, even as a Premium theme.

Thank you so much for the information! I’m going to check out that Cubic theme now :) I appreciate the help!
