How to handle web accessibility with a theme

  • Hi! I’m configuring my company’s website and we need to comply with the AODA Accessibility Act (Ontario, Canada). An accessibility checker shows that we need to add ALT tags to a number of our images. However, it doesn’t seem to acknowledge the meta alt text information I put into the WP Media Library items and there is no way to add HTML alt codes because many of the images are placed through the Theme Options tab and short codes.

How can I make the website fully accessible? Are there workarounds I can implement?

The website in question is new.mediaresources.com and we use the theme Transit Pro by Alexa Themes.

  • Hey there, for help with this, could you check in with support for your theme? They’ll be your best bet.

Going forward, you’ll also want to use the correct forums for self-managed installations, at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Or, you’d be welcome to migrate your site to our services. You can find our pricing here:

    Cheers!
