How to change blog from ascending to descending?

I would like my first post to always be the post at the top and anything that comes after to be below that. is there a way to do that?

Visitors come to read our latest content and will not click through hundreds of posts to locate the most recent one we have published. That’s why our blogs are structured to display posts in reverse chonological order with the most recent post on top on the main page of our blogs. That cannot be reversed by us bloggers as it’s coded into the core of WordPress software, but you can create a book-like structure. http://en.support.wordpress.com/write-a-book/

Aside from that, you can mark a post as a sticky post by checking the option that says “Stick this post to the front page” in the Publish settings on any post.
