Hello,
I’m sorry to hear you’re experiencing difficulties with editing your homepage. Let’s troubleshoot this issue together to get your homepage loading correctly again. A few additional details would help to narrow down the cause:
- Specific Error Messages: Are you receiving any specific error messages when you try to edit your homepage? If so, what do they say?
- Browser and Device: Have you tried accessing your homepage editor using a different web browser or device? Sometimes, browser-specific issues can cause such problems.
- Internet Connection: Is your internet connection stable? A poor connection can sometimes lead to difficulties in loading website editors.
- WordPress.com Editor or Customizer: Are you using the WordPress.com editor or the customizer to edit your homepage? Knowing which tool you’re using can help identify the issue.
- Recent Changes: Have there been any recent changes to your website or its settings that might be related to this issue?
In the meantime, here are a few general steps you can try:
- Clear Browser Cache: Since you’ve already cleared cookies, also try clearing your browser’s cache. Sometimes old data stored in the cache can cause loading issues.
- Use a Different Browser: Try accessing your homepage editor using a different browser to see if the issue is browser-specific.
- Check for WordPress.com Outages: Occasionally, WordPress.com might experience service disruptions. You can check the Automattic’s status page for any reported issues.
- Edit Using the WP Admin Interface: Try editing your homepage through the WP Admin interface, which you can access by adding
/wp-admin
to the end of your website’s URL.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it would be helpful if you could provide the additional information requested above. This will help in diagnosing the problem more accurately.
We’re here to help, so please let us know how it goes and if you need further assistance!

Hi! Thank you for your help, I followed all of your tips but nothing worked. The problem is that when I go to Pages -> All Pages -> I click … in HomePage -> Edit, it directs me to the page that appears in the picture and it stays like that forever. I tried everything you said, and nothing has worked.

Here are a couple of quick things you can try:
- Default vs. Custom Homepage: Check if your site is set to use the default homepage provided by your theme or a custom one. Head over to your dashboard and look under
Settings → Reading
. If it’s not on ‘Default’, try switching back to see if it makes a difference. - Access the Editor Directly: If you’re being redirected to the Design page, it might be related to the editor your theme is using. You can try to edit your homepage directly by going to
Appearance → Editor
in your dashboard.
- Default vs. Custom Homepage: Check if your site is set to use the default homepage provided by your theme or a custom one. Head over to your dashboard and look under

Hi Folks –
I’d like to step back and ensure I’m solving the right problem. It sounds like you’ve been unable to save changes on the home page. Is this correct?
After reviewing the account and testing things, I have not been able to reproduce the experience that you’re having. When I go to My Sites – Appearance – Editor – Pages I can click Home and then the pencil icon to edit. The screen loads fine. This would be option 2 from the previous reply in this thread.
This might be an issue with your local setup or a disrupted connection. Have you tried using a different browser?
