  Just curious will WordPress ever bring back hit counters? Any news about this for Gutenburg? A hit counter block would be nice in some cases I think.

  A hit counter, also known as a view counter displays on a blog, showing how many views a blog has.

  Thanks for clarifying. We don’t call it a “hit counter” exactly, but our Blog Stats Widget will display total visits in your sidebar: https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/blog-stats-widget/

  I believe the default setting for the widget also displays the total number as “hits” but you can edit it to say “total visitors” or “cool people who visited this blog” or whatever you like.
