Hever Theme Doesn't Display Properly

  • I downloaded and installed Varia and Hever themes, and activated Hever theme, but it doesn’t display properly.

    See – https://dstall.com/TXD/

Is there something I’m missing? Do I activated Varia, then add Hever as child theme?
    How do I do that?

Or how do I get Hever theme to display properly?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • This is on self hosted site with WordPress installed, not on WordPress.com

  • Hi there,

Since Hever is a child theme of Varia, you also need to download that theme. There’s no need to make a child theme of Hever; just install both Hever and Varia.

Also, make sure to download the latest versions of both themes from the links below.

  • I have latest versions of each theme uploaded to WP, and I’ve activated both.
I don’t understand what Varia has to do with Hever if only one theme can be activated at a time.

When Hever is activated, it looks nothing like the sample.
It looked like sample when I activated it at WordPress.com, but not when I activated it on my self hosted account.

It looks as if images, pages and CSS aren’t there.
There’s no image or other content.

A parent theme is a complete theme which includes all of the required WordPress template files and assets for the theme to work. A child theme inherits the look and feel of the parent theme and all of its functions, but can be used to make modifications to any part of the theme which will change the look.

Therefore you would need to have Hever activated, but you also need to have Varia installed (and not activated) so Hever can access all the template files required for the theme to work properly.

Viewing your site, I’m showing that Hever is working just fine. Screenshot: https://d.pr/i/hAjUDp

Themes for sites hosted here at WordPress.com have the option to install demo content when you choose a theme – this functionality would not be the same when installing the theme on your own self-hosted site.

If you’re still having this problem, please take a screenshot of the problem in question. If you’re not familiar with how to take a screenshot, this support document will help explain how to make one:

    Take a Screenshot

Then, use a service like Snipboard.io to upload the screenshot and then share the image link from that service here and we’ll take a closer look.

    Thanks!

  • I created the site pages at WordPress.com free account – http://txdeutsch.home.blog

I exported the site, then imported into WordPress 6.0 install on my hosting provider. Only the front page showed up, not History, Family, or Artifacts pages.

I cannot edit page like I did at WordPress.com

Serif font changed to sans serif for TX DEUTSCH in header and Texan Retrospective title.

Share this and Like buttons disappeared from footer and other stuff showed up instead.
    Apparantely there’s a footer widget.
I was able to delete blog categories, recent posts etc., but there’s a search bar that I cannot delete because it doesn’t show up when I click edit footer widget.

The following also displays in footer at bottom of page but doesn’t show up anywhere in footer widget edit function – TX DEUTSCH, proudly powered by WordPress.

  • Never mind. Since this won’t be a big site and doesn’t really need CMS, I’m biting the bullet and tackling with Dreamweaver.
