Help with Snaps theme grid/tile appearance
-
Hi,
I have recently begun using WordPress.
I have started a blog using the theme ‘Snaps’ and I love how it looks, however my site does not look the same as what the demo indicates.
Specifically I am not able to achieve the grid/ tile appearance on the home page or any other page of my blog. Is there something obvious I am missing?
I would really appreciate some help on this! Thanks,

Hi Priyanka, have a look at the guide to Snaps here:
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/snaps/
Your site is set to display your blog posts, but the demo site is set to display a static front page using the Portfolio template. Have a look at the Portfolio section in the guide in particular.
Also keep in mind that the demo you should reference is the one on WordPress.com here – https://snapsdemo.wordpress.com/ – not the one on Graph Paper Press, which is for self-hosted sites, not WordPress.com sites. There may be differences between the two versions of the theme.
Just let me know if you get stuck!

Hi, I just started using snaps myself and I assumed it would take the feature images and set them as the portfolio page automatically. I am on wordpress.com and I’d very much like my front page to be grid like. Thanks. Azuka

Hi Azuka, your front page is set to use the theme’s Default template. If you’d like it to look more like the Snaps demo, you’ll need to assign the front page to the Portfolio Page Template instead.
In the WP Admin editor, you’ll find that in the Page Attributes box while editing the page:
In the new editor, you’ll find the page template options in the Page Settings box in the left column.
In future, please start a new thread rather than adding to an old one if you need help – thanks!

Hi Kathrynwp,
thanks for the help, sorry about following the thread. I felt it was ok since we were having simillar issues.
I have 5 pages which are part of my menu, I usually publish posts with feature images. In the past, it’s the feature images that gets used as the portfolio automatically.
How do I get the portfolio look?
Thanks for the help.

I’m not quite sure what your goal is here.
I’m not seeing any portfolio projects at all on your site:

If you could explain in more detail what you’re trying to do that would be super helpful. Thanks!

Once the original issue has been resolved it’s much better to start a new thread. Volunteers and staff will both be more likely to spot your question, it helps keep questions and answers more organized, and increases the value of search results. :)
