Headers
-
Hi! I’m wondering if there’s a way to add headers to all posts on my home page? So others who visit my home page and read the posts by scrolling down through them there can see the headers too
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi! You can absolutely do this, via the Site Editor which is available at Appearance > Editor – that’s where you can make changes to the general appearance of the site by editing the templates of your theme.
Within the Site Editor, you’d likely want to set up a ‘header’ template part – click here to find the guide for template parts. You may wish to ensure that your Site Logo, Site Title, and possibly a Navigation block, are included in the header template part.
Once you are happy with your header template part, you’d want to ensure that it is added to the various templates, so it can appear at the top of your pages and blog posts. We do of course have additional guides that may be useful, including:
- Overview of the Site Editor
- Editing the Page template
- Editing the Single template for your blog posts
- The general Templates guide
Should you need, we do also offer webinars that may be useful, such as this one:
Editing custom headersI hope that helps, if you do have any other questions let us know!

Thank you for the answer. I was thinking about adding several headers though for all my posts on my front page. The ones that follow after the Categories list. Not the main header itself on my front page that reads the name of the blog

Do you mind sharing more details about what these “headers” will look like? For example, were you want to place an image or some additional text (or both) before each listed post category item? We ask so we can continue to assist you and find a targeted solution for your needs.

Thank you for the reply. The headers I want to display are the headers that already exist on all my posts. Except I would like them to show on my home page too. Where the blog title and description are. Below the “Categories” list where it says “Posts”, my entries are shown all the way down to the bottom of the page. There are no headers above the entries unfortunately. That’s what I would like to have. Here’s a screenshot of the area I’m talking about

Thank you for this additional information. The site is using the Query Loop Block to display your posts. You can access this block from Appearance > Editor.
May I suggest removing the Query Loop Block for the Blog Posts Block instead: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/blog-posts-block/
With this block, you can display your posts, an expert, a featured image, and much more. You can really customize how the posts are displayed with that block.
The link above includes gifs on how to work with the block in addition to numerous images of the block’s settings and features. If that doesn’t work out for you, let us know. -
Thank you for the advice. If I used the Blog Posts Block instead, would it mean that I have to add headers separately for every single post? Or could I somehow load in the headers for the already existing posts?
-
Hi there,
The titles/headers for each existing post will automatically appear above the respective post when you add the Blog Post Block. What you may be seeing in the gif is the option to make a header for the entire Blog Post Block, which is optional.
Hope this helps. Please try adding the Block and let us know if you have any questions on what you’re seeing. Thanks! -
Hi! I tried deleting the current Query Loop Block on my front page and adding the Blog Posts Block via Appearance and Editor through the + button above. However, no media or read more links show. It looks like in the screenshot I attached. Can you please explain what needs to be done to make it look correct?

Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out!
When I look at the index template, I can see both the image and the read more block as seen here:
To check, are you editing the index template here: https://flowofain.wordpress.com/wp-admin/site-editor.php?postType=wp_template&postId=pub%2Fgeologist-yellow%2F%2Findex&canvas=edit
Many thanks.

Yes, I’m trying to edit it there. What I get is seen below. Blank posts with only text. Why?
-
Never mind. I’ll deal with it on my own and take care of the issue myself. Lousy service
