Guests Commenting with OpenID
-
I have been trying to find in the settings how I can set it to allow guests to comment using their various OpenIDs.
At the moment I can only see where to set it for them to Add a Name, Email Address and Web Url.
Are guests allowed to post using an OpenID
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

People can use open ID to comment on blogs here, but they cannot put posts up on your blog with it.

Thank you, but how do I enable it for people to comment on posts with an openID
I have logged out to see what my guests would see when going to make a comment and I see nothing that says “Log in with OpenID”
So where do I go to enable guest posting with OpenID.

This is all I could find in wordpress.com support documentation http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/openid/
A forum search turned up this https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/your-openid-credentials-could-not-be-verified?replies=7 -
Thanks for those links. That was the sort of information I was finding when I did a search.
They pertain to using our own wordpress OpenID on other sites. Not people coming along with, lets say, an aol ID or a google ID and using those to post comments with on our WordPress blogs.
What is driving me crazy is that when a guest types in their web url along with an email and username, their comments go in the spam folder.
I then have to go in and say it’s not spam then it’s another couple of clicks for me to accept the comment.
I have it set to allow comments without moderation yet it will insist on counting any url added with a username as spam.

I will never remove comment moderation from my blogs but as you have al;ready done so did you know you can change the settings sregarding how many links can be left in a comment before it goes to the spam filter?
-> Settings -> Discussion
Comment Moderation
Hold a comment in the queue if it contains ___ or more links. (A common characteristic of comment spam is a large number of hyperlinks.)
“Save changes”As far as the specifics of using openID to comment on blogs here at wordpress.com goes I believe it may be the case that only Staff can answer your questions.

Thanks for that. I already have it set to allow 2 links before it goes into spam but that doesn’t seem to affect someone adding their webpage along with a username when commenting on posts and it ending up in the spam folder.
Am I in the wrong place?? Do staff man this particular forum or do I have to contact them in another way to help me with this.
Thanks for all the help you are all trying to give me, it’s much appreciated.

The link from the username to the website is not counted. However, if any links are entered into a comment that Akismet already recognizes as spam then they will be filtered out.
The ONLY people who can post to your blog (post not comment) are those you have made users. http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/

As far as I know, WordPress.com supports OpenID, but only as a provider. i.e you can use wordpress.com url to post comment in other website like blogger but it does not allow openid user to post comment on wordpress.com blogs. There is plugin available to use Openid to post comment on wordpress.org (selfhosted blog)

I am so greatful that I find this thread about OpenID. I have been thinking about allowing my blog to accept OpenID from users. I think it is much easier that way. Zandranna, spoke very well about what I wish for wordpress.com to do. Like Unmalya answered, I think wordpress.com only allow to use the OpenID as a provider only. Is there a way for us to allow our blogs to accept OpenID so guest can post? To whom are we suppose to speak to? I would like to know?
