Google fonts and GDPR again
-
@supernovia suggested our “Full Site Editing” themes, which are newer and use locally hosted fonts not connected to Google servers. Here is what she wrote aboveThe theme you are using now (Independent Publisher) is an older theme that is not created with full site editing in mind and likely still uses Google fonts. I’m glad to see that @pittalexandra had some success here but I am not sure how they managed that, as we are still investigating a solution on our end.
However, this is something we are actively working on so we hope to have this resolved for all classic themes such as the one you are using now. We will update this thread when we have more info, thanks for your patience.

@staff-totoro, its true, Independant Publisher 2 uses also google fonts from the google server, but if you choose ‘standard font’ the theme uses system fonts (from the computer of the visitor). With my website it works and as other users reported, with other websites too.

Independant Publisher 2 works for me too, thank you @pittalexandra. I did it exactly like you mentioned with the standard font and the Google Font Checker does not complain anymore.
-
you are smart, if I edit my websites I do not see any option of Independent Publisher …
I am still concerned of the law target I received about using google fondshas it something to do with https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/

@metallkunstpokale ‘design’ ‘anpassen’ ‘schriften’ in German, there you can choose ‘Standard’. For some themes system fonts are available in the Block Editor, I tried some of them and found Google Fonts…

Friends, just letting you know all of this should be resolved now & you should have more flexibility in choosing your theme now. If you run into any issues, please go ahead and open a new thread with us. Cheers :)
