Free plan only ONE column???
-
I have the FREE plan which appears to mean, but is nowhere clearly indicated, that I can only have ONE column on the splash/home page?
I’ve tried numerous themes and they all look nothing like the advertised theme unless they have only one column. And I’ve tried all the available editing tools and nothing adjusts this basic layout issue. Extraordinary really.
I want a newspaper like format with headline and there columns of stories linking to the full stories within the site, like the HIVE theme.
TIA
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

See here https://wordpress.com/themes/edin/ so you can set the theme up as described there using the instructions provided at that link and also in the related support docs at http://support.wordpress.com

P.S. I don’t know of any other themes that are designed the way Hive is designed https://wordpress.com/themes/hive but Themes Staff have more information than I do. You can type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

Thanks for your suggestions, Edin is one of the themes I first tried and is in fact the one I’m using right now, but as you can see there is one column, and it looks nothing like the sample theme.
I’ve added Modlook. I can only assume this is a restriction on the Free plan. Still, if that is the case it would be better to make it clear.

Part of the problem getting your site to look like the demo is that you have NO content on your site – no content will defeat making most themes look good – put a few Posts and Pages on your site – even if the text and pictures are junk – then you can see how things interact and actually look

Hi again,
Your site is devoid on any blogger created content and looks nothing like the live demo site https://edindemo.wordpress.com/ because you have not published any content and have not used the set up instructions on the detailed theme description page here https://wordpress.com/themes/edin/See here for the Sela theme https://wordpress.com/themes/sela/ description page with set up instructions and here for the live demo site https://selademo.wordpress.com/

Again, thanks for your suggestions, I’ve managed to locate the way to get three columns, which is by using ‘portfolio’ in “illustrator” and ‘grid’ in page template in “Edin”. Three ‘projects’ in the former and three ‘child pages’ in the latter will do the job – 6-9-12…for a grid. Plus you’ve got to create a featured image for each item on the grid.
Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.
I can’t see how you can change fonts other than going Premium though..
