  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I understand that you have applied the fixed background option on your front page’s picture, and it is working fine on your desktop but not on your mobile device. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

This issue might be occurring due to the difference in rendering capability between desktop and mobile devices. Because of this the fixed background feature may be disabled on some mobile devices to improve the page’s performance.

We note this in our documentation on the Cover Block here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/cover-block/#media-settings

There are some workarounds for this, such as installing a plugin that will allow you to set a fixed background as a parallax image, regardless of how it may affect site performance. However, we typically do not recommend fixed images on mobile since the performance issues can affect your ranking with Google.

It has been demonstrated that Google will rank sites higher based on how quickly they load (especially if the Google search is from someone with a mobile device) so for something like an image effect it’s best to skip it in favor of the best Google ranking possible.

We discuss more SEO best practices in our Intro to SEO course (which is free) and you can find out more and take the course here! https://wordpress.com/learn/courses/intro-to-seo/

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
