Featured image too large on Hever theme

  • Hello,
Does anyone know why the featured images are so large on the Hever theme? Like even if I edit them to be 10:8 or 16:9 they come out humONGOUs on the laptop style screen. But then whenever I download it to try and make it smaller or resize it, it downloads the normal sized image which is already pretty small.

Is there any way to edit the size of featured images? I like to add the featured image so that it shows up in my shortened list of blog posts, or in the “latest posts” section, but I honestly don’t like it on the actual post page because it is just so large. I would probably rather just like to remove the featured image altogether from the specific post page if possible.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

This is how this particular theme is designed. As stated at the bottom of the theme support page at https://wordpress.com/theme/hever, the recommended Featured Image size is 2000px wide by 1200px high, and that’s the size at which the theme will display them. What size image you upload is irrelevant – that doesn’t change the size of the container in which the theme displays it.

This theme doesn’t have an option to hide featured images on single post pages, so the only way to hide them will be via custom CSS code on the Premium Plan or higher:

    https://wordpress.com/support/custom-css/

With custom CSS you’ll also be able to override the theme’s design and make the container in which featured images appear smaller.
