Favicon in wordpress.com-hosted blog?
-
I need some help changing the favicon (site icon) on a blog hosted in by wordpress.com – the “Site Identity – Site Icon” option is not there and I am thinking maybe that’s not an option in blogs that are not self-hosted? The theme I am using is Seal.
Thanks in advance,

In the Admin, choose from the left column “Settings”, then choose “General”. On the right of the page you will see a box “Blog Picture/Icon”. WordPress calls favicons icons and gravatars. Upload your favicon (actually a jpeg file and not a favicon.ico file) and soon it will appear on your site. Refresh your browser and you will see your new favicon soon. ‘Hope this helps you :)

Same problem here, I think they either “forgot” to make the option more easily accessible or just didn’t even bother to put it in while redesigning this new interface.
You used to put it by following this tutorial: https://en.support.wordpress.com/blavatars/
But now the options simply aren’t there.

The option is still in the old/classic editor:

Hey folks!
Favicon on WordPress.com blogs is referred to as “Blavatar“, the tutorial linked by @rosenpunkt is still valid! It can be set from WP Admin dashboard > Settings > General.
You can go directly to it by appending /wp-admin/options-general.php to your blog addresses. An example would be: http://example.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php
