Extra high view #s from only 4 visitors?

  Today at 8:30 am EDST I had notification “stats are booming” 638 views! But only 4 visitors and only HomePage/Archives were viewed no posts. My highest ever views in one day was around 750 and I have never had more than 10 at 8:30 am. What may have caused this? Anyone have an idea?
