email "followers" not showing up in site stats
-
Hello,
I get maybe 2-3 emails a week about people who have “signed up” to follow my blog. The site stats only show 25 followers. Why do I keep getting emails that I have new followers? Is this some kind of mix-up?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Can you please let me know if those followers email addresses are from outlook.com?
-
I am having the same issue. And yes, all the emails are from outlook.com. Those email total almost 15, but on my WordPress site it shows 4 followers.
Please advise.
Thank you!

Are these email followers coming from Outlook email addresses?
If so – this is a known spam issue that we are working on. The followers aren’t making it through to your dashboard followers because we are removing them on our end.

Yes, Outlook. However, I do have genuine email followers who are not showing up as well.

Hi lylemichael,

This issue sounds a bit different from the one livingforanotherage posted above so please start a new thread for your question.
Thanks.

Hi, I have the same issue regarding messages of new followers from Outlook. Who and what are they? I mean, I get that they are Spam (I guess), but what are they hoping to accomplish? Does the fact that they are not showing up in my follower list mean WordPress is successfully blocking them?
Thanks in advance.

@sharinay65 yes, typically. We’ll keep working to catch them before you get an email notification, but you can disable new follower email notifications if you’d like for now.
