Editing disruptions WordPress.com for Jetpack connected site

As I’m writing posts, if Jetpack fails to connect, the entire screen jumps up, losing my place in the post to display a connection error. This is awful, disruptive design. You can show a subtle notification without disrupting the entire editing process then save when it reconnects.
Second, why does it disconnect so often? What causes that?

I’m sorry to say that you are posting to the wrong support forum. That site is not on WordPress.COM servers.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. I suggest reinstalling the latest version of the Jetpack plugin and reconnect it to your WordPress.com account.

Hi ideafaktory, I know you’ve been communicating directly with support as well, but wanted to send an update here for reference to other people.
The UI bug with the editor jumping is fixed now.
