Drop-menu won’t expand or show all colours

    How can I get my submenu to show on all pages using Poesie theme? On my homepage (NeatestShapes.wordpress.com), the header is too short to show the submenu ‘’màs,” but it accepts the black background I set. On other pages, the submenu refuses my command for a black background, but at least the full length shows. I’ve tried changing the height in css editor and changing colors with only errors. Will I have to abandon my header with background?
