Domain Mapping problems

  • I registered a domain with godaddy and linked it to my typepad blog previously.

    I moved to wordpress.

I followed the steps in Domains » Map an Existing Domain and updated the nameservers as described in these instructuons at godaddy. I left it for 24 hours. I checked godaddy. And it is updated.

If i type my bought domain into google and click on it, it takes me to my old typepad blog.

If I click on my blog IN WORDPRESS it takes me to the godaddy site.

I checked godaddy again now and the nameservers are updated and the DNS Manager says: “Not hosted here”.

    What am I to do?

    Thanks

  • Hi Ruardt,

I am seeing http://specksfinancialreporting.com/ point to your http://specksfinancialreporting.wordpress.com/ WordPress.com site. Are you still seeing it point to the wrong location or getting an error message? If you are, please be aware that it can take up to 24-48 hours for nameserver/DNS changes to propagate themselves throughout the internet. It typically takes much less time than that, but it all depends on how quickly your internet service provider updates.

Also, your browser may be looking at a cached version of the page. You can try either clearing your cache, using a different browser, or loading the page and then holding the shift key while you click reload/refresh.

Please let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

  • Thank you. Sorry, it must have jut taken 3 days for it to start working. Working fine now. R

  • Great to hear!

Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. Otherwise, thanks for using WordPress.com!
