Good afternoon!
Do you mean https://maward.ca/ or is there a different domain you are referring to? The domain https://maward.ca/ is associated with your user name on WordPress.COM. But you mention updating versions, which you can’t do with a WordPress.COM account because they don’t let us mortals install anything.https://maward.ca/ is hosted at siteground. If you are trying to have a blog with the same domain name here at WordPress.com that just won’t work. It’s like expecting the post office to deliver your mail to two different addresses at the same time with only one address on the envelope.
The question is which site do you want the domain to go to? The one at siteground or one here at WordPress? Once we know that we can help you better.

No my WordPress account is under maryannward. It shows my profile there but will not connecgt to MySite. Error message comes up saying “You don’t have any wordpress sites yet”. But I have been using the connected site to my domain for a month. I cannot create posts, etc in WordPress. The only thing I can access if My Profile and Account Settings.
Eg: can no longer enter via https://wordpress.com/posts/my domain name -
My domain is under SiteGround. I apologize for being slow…. I am very much a beginner… appreciate your assistance.

It sounds like you are using the Jetpack plugin and it has become disconnected. Can you try going to WP Admin > Jetpack in your site and check to see if there’s an option to re-connect?

Hip Hip Hooray!!! I’m sending a thank you hug your way! Problem solved! You are the best!….
(Can you tell I am a happy camper!) -
Ok. So your site that is not hosted at WordPress.COM is not the issue here. Your WordPress account has a Domain entry that points to it.
From what you are saying, it looks like you want to do a completely different thing here at WordPress separate from https://maward.ca/ and have a maryannward.WordPress.com blog here.
To make the Domain entry in your profile point back to your blog at WordPress, start by going to:
https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/maryannward.wordpress.comClick on your domain maward.co
click on Enter Site Address
On the next page that opens up click on Change Blog address
Read the next page carefully Enter maryannward in the appropriate place and when you are really sure that everything is correct, press the save changes button.Take a deep breath, maybe go get a glass of water, pet the dog, do something you like for a bit, because you just did something not many people would dare try!
best,
