Tried twice to delete blog. (Unfortunately, I needed to do so — it’s over my techy-ness quotient at the moment.) Each time it says it will confirm via my email.

Try using the feedback link from within your Dashboard to send a message directly to the admin. I’ve seen this menthod mentioned in a number of other threads.
