(c) Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily. Know also that security and firewall programs and programs that run incognito mode may need to be temporarily disabled as well.

Add both *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to your list of trusted sites under the Security tab. (a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/
(c) Exactly what you experience including exactly what any error reports you receive state.
(d) Screenshots can be helpful. You can use http://snag.gy/ or http://cloudup.com to share screenshots and link to them here. … it’s an intermittent problem and quite frankly i’m not going to plow through all that browser stuff … I use internet explorer … this problem started after I installed the security update … did you send one or was it a fake and somehow it’s screwing with the blog? … mark

Hi @markblack9, was this a security update for Internet Explorer? If you can let us know what version you’re running and what version of Windows you use, we may be able to duplicate it here.
Also if anyone else is seeing something similar and can provide more details, please share them here.

hi supernovia … thanks for the reply … it was a wordpress security update and i’m beginning to believe that either it was a false notice and thereby I let somebody in and it screwed with the workings or it was a poor installation … was there a fairly recent security update or not? … and if not, my next question is can I transfer my blog to a new blog and hopefully the transfer wouldn’t include the hacker-stuff or the poor installation?

I want to confirm the URL please. Are you referring to this site with the astonishing number of links at the top of it https://matholdiesbutgoodies.wordpress.com/ and running the retired The Andreas09 Theme theme? Or to some other site?

hi rootjosh … i’m not clear about which url you’re asking for … in general, I use internet explorer; when things started to go bad, it was after I received what appears to be a false security update while in wordpress.om … can you please verify if wordpress sent out a security update about a week ago … thanks, mark

hi timethief – those items at the top are the main menu items for the posts in the blog, not links to anything else … I will ask you what I’ve asked the others who have replied – did wordpress issue a security update about a week ago? if so, then the installation seems to have corrupted some functions in the blog … or … someone hacked me with the same corrupting outcome … mark

WordPress.com does not have security updates. If you have a self hosted WordPress.org site, then you might have updates of the WordPress.org software.
But if you have a WordPress.com site, you would not get any security updates from us. That all happens behind the scenes on WordPress.com.
What is the web address of your site? For example johnsmith.com or johnsmith.wordpress.com.

hi rootjosh … my website address is matholdiesbutgoodies.wordpress.com … given that you don’t send out security updates, someone has screwed with my blog … is there a way I can fix it, or move all my postings to to a new one? … mark

Can you try accessing your site with a different browser and seeing if the issue repeats itself?
