Changed Theme Front Page

  • I am new and trying out different themes. Started changing Hever theme, but want to try others. When I activate another theme, the front page always looks the same except text style and menu location. It looks nothing like their examples.

I had to do a hard reset within Chrome to get the old photo to go away that I had already deleted from Media, but this reset doesn’t help the look of the page in Customizer.

    Can you please help?

  • Hi there,

Activating a theme won’t automatically have your site’s front page look like the theme’s demo. We have a handful of themes on WordPress.com that, when you activate them, automatically sets the theme’s own demo page as your site’s front page, while setting your existing front page to draft status. But with the majority of themes, activating a theme simply enables the design, and you need to manually set up the front page to look like the theme demo, following the instructions for that particular theme.

At the moment your site is using the premium theme, Fortune. You can find the setup instructions for this theme here:

    https://wordpress.com/theme/fortune/setup

Have a look at that and see if you can get the front page set up as explained there. Let us know if you need any more help with this.

Also note that your plan gives you access to both live chat and direct email support. You can reach those at any time by clicking the Help icon that appears bottom-right on all the My Sites pages, or else via the direct link at https://wordpress.com/help/contact
