category, tag and archive pages not functioning correctly

    I have my website setup and the blog is functioning correctly except for the pages for filtering post by category, tag or date (archive). the pages are displaying differently that the rest of the blog. the sidebars are being displayed on the left of the pages (should be on the right) and the pages generated from the archive.php, tag.php and category.php files are not filtering the wordpress posts correctly. all posts are displayed.
    if someone can help me fix this problem i am having i would be most greatful. Im sure its a simple fix, but its beyond my current knowlegde/ability :(
