Can't $witch the site I'm editing by clicking the my sites button.

  • Hi, Community.

When I click on the my sites button on the wordpress.com page, nothing happens, so I can’t switch from editing 1 site to annother site.

  • Hi there, I tested your account, and when I click “Switch Sites” I see your sites. So I’m wondering if this is a browser issue. We have some ideas for troubleshooting that here, but to start, are you able to try another browser to see if you have the same issue there?

  • Hi, @supernovia.

I already tried clearing my cache and cookies and using a different browser.

I am still experiencing this issue.

Also, it is not a switch site button, there is a my sites button, which I can use to get a list of my sites.

That’s the button that doesn’t work.

  • Hi there,

What browser (including version number) are you using, and what operating system and on what type of device?

  • Hi again!

I am using an android tablet, and I am using the latest version of Chrome.

  • I had a look at my Android device. Using Chrome, I logged into my WordPress.com account; I could tap on My Site, click on Switch sites, everything worked as expected.

Are you able to try another browser and see if everything works correctly there?

On your Chrome, please go to https://www.whatismybrowser.com/ and scroll down to Your web browser’s unique URL. You can then share that link in your reply. It will give us some more information about your setup. Thanks!

  • What does getting my browser’s direct url do to help you see my settings?

Also, when I send the link, would you mind making that link I send only visible to staff?

  • We need to see what operating system browser version and specific settings you’re using. Using that site nor sharing that link here reveals specific data about you – it’s just your device settings and not something you would need to be concerned with from a privacy standpoint. We can remove the link upon request.

Also when we ask for your operating system, we need to know what numerical version you’re on. In Android, you can find the OS version under Settings -> About -> and under “Device details” you can see the device model and Android Version.

For the browser you’re using, open the Google Play store, find your browser, and under the “About this App” section, click through and scroll down to the version number.

Also, let us know which browsers you’ve tried (and versions of each).

    Thanks!

  • Hi!

I don’t feel comfortable devoting information about my device logs on this forum.

  • We’re not asking you for any logs.

We’re asking for your browser name and version number, and your Android version number. There is no possible way anyone can use that information against you, but we need that information to be able to effectively troubleshoot what might be going on here.

  • Thanks for putting that together for us – that helps us a lot.

It looks like you’re using a “BrailleNote Touch” running Android 8.1 – which is quite a few versions older than the most recent Android version (12.0) and is likely the issue here. Android 8.1 was released in August 2017.

Typically we only support the current and next newest versions of operating systems, and normally we wouldn’t be able to do anything here.

However, since the device you’re using is an accessibility-focused device, I’ve passed along your specific issue to the development team to see if there’s anything they can do here.

We’ll be back in touch if we have any new information to share.

  • Thanks for the update.

Quick question, once you receive a new update, will you be reaching me by reslying to this thread, or will you be reaching me privately?

I just need to know so I know if I should remain subscribed to this thread.

  • We’ll follow up in this thread.

For now, I recommend you bookmark the dashboard links for your two sites, so you can just go directly to the site you want without using the Switch Site option. These are the links you need to save:

    https://wordpress.com/home/jazzypuzzles.wordpress.com

    https://wordpress.com/home/podcastgenious.wordpress.com

Another option is to save a link to the All Sites screen, then you can select the site you want from there:

  • I have a hard time accessing and locating my bookmarks sense my browser has too many.

Saving the url wouldn’t be ideal in that situation.
