bbPress – topic resolver not translated
-
The string above the dropdown (This topic is) as well as the content of the dropdown (resolved, not resolved, not a support question) which is shown the sidebar in single topic view isn’t translated yet. (→ Screenshot)
This is very confusing to forum users as they don’t know or are unsure about how to mark topics as resolved. I’ve checked GlotPress but can’t find these strings there.
Hey, and while we’re at it, what’s the chance of getting a preview feature for post creation in the support forums? As an international forum moderator and therefore someone who creates more posts than usual, I’d find such a feature really useful.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The following strings are also untranslated.
This topic is sticky

Hi moderator colleague,
De rien. :) Nice to read you and thanks for completing the list of untranslated strings.

Hi @airodyssey and @iqatrophie, can you submit some translation strings to the BB Press Project?
https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/bbpressWe would still need to implement them after they’re deployed, but that’s a good place to start. Thanks!

Are you sure this would help? Afaik the WordPress.com support forums are running a really old version of bbPress and it’s definitely not the plugin but still the stand-alone version. Moreover, I can’t find any of the mentioned strings in the bbPress GlotPress.

Okay. I found out the WordPress.com forum strings are translated here:
https://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom/I also found out that these particular strings are not translatable at this time, though. We’ll update you if that changes. Cheers!

I found out the WordPress.com forum strings are translated here:
Since I’m a “Translation Editor” (Validator) for german on the WP.com GlotPress, I already knew that. That’s why I said in my original post “I’ve checked GlotPress but can’t find these strings there“.
I must admit, the simple statement that these strings are not translatable is very unsatisfying. :( Can you maybe elaborate why they’re not translatable? What should I tell the user who asked about it in the german forum?
-
@iqatrophie – they weren’t translatable at that time. But we’ve done a bit of behind-the-scenes work here, and they are translatable now.
Thanks for your patience while we worked this out. Cheers :)

Hi Velda,
wow, that’s more than I expected. :D I can find the strings in GlotPress now. Seems like they still need to be deployed because the german forum doesn’t show the translated strings yet.
From past experiences I’m used to the fact that issues|feature wishes|… connected to the support forums are granted a rather low priority. Usually justified with the missing manpower. That’s why this is a pleasant surprise.
Thanks for all the effort you put in.
Cheers

I’m glad we could help. We just have to phrase things carefully here in case we can’t make something happen — if that makes sense. :) I was very happy to be able to tell you this is done. :)
Seems like they still need to be deployed because the german forum doesn’t show the translated strings yet.
Alright, these translations deploy regularly, so give that a day or so and if you don’t see the changes then, let us know.

The translations have been deployed and everything works like a charm. :)
One small, last question. @airodyssey mentioned the string “This topic is sticky”. The term “sticky” is wrongly translated with “sticky” in german. Can’t find the term in the Forums view|filter in GlotPress. Can you specify if it’s missing or which of the existing “Sticky” strings is used in the forum?
