Asides and Twenty Fourteen Emphemera

Add topic to favorites
I am wondering if it is possible to customize my site (www.beyondthebleachers.net) so that asides are displayed only in the side bar as part of the twenty fourteen emphemera, and not as a post in the main part of the page.

This CSS hides all the “Aside” format posts from the primary content area. Currently you do not have non-Aside posts on your front page. So the primary content area is empty.

Could you add a few normal posts and see how they turn up.

Is there a way to get excerpts to be displayed? I’ve been told that they cannot be displayed in either grid or slider mode (I’m user slider mode), but I’m wondering if this can be dealt with via CSS.

Unfortunately, not.

Twenty Fourteen theme is not designed to show excerpts on slider or grid.

We can only use CSS to style the existing elements on the page, but not to add elements.

I like having the two sidebar widget areas and being able to put the asides just on the side. Also want to show excerpts. Don’t need the slider feature. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

are theme specific.

I would suggest you check these themes that have both left and right sidebars and further filter (manually) based on asides, excerpts etc.
