Articles: how can I change my H1 title into H2 ?

Hi. When I write an article on my blog, the title is automatically a H1. Problem: my homepage (that is a list of all my articles) has several H1 and that isn’t good for the natural referencing. How can I change it? (I know my blog misses a site title). Thank you!

I see that post titles on the homepage of http://inconditionnelle.com/ use H1 tags.
This is a theme-level design and if you need to change them to display as H2 tags or lesser, that would be a theme-level change and would require knowledge of code.
Alternatively, you can consider writing custom CSS if you are on the WordPress.com Premium plan or WordPress.com Business plan.
Or, visit WordPress.com Customizer https://wordpress.com/customize and click on the Fonts tab on the left. Look for Headings, and click on it. Select the font type of your choice.
Just below that, you would see two new options to set the font style and size of your choice. Choose from your needs and you are good to go.
Changes to Headings will reflect on the post titles on your homepage.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have questions.

To clarify, there is no way to change h1 to h2 tags with custom CSS.
The idea that multiple h1 tags aren’t good for SEO is outdated; multiple h1 tags are valid HTML5. Please see: https://webdesign.tutsplus.com/articles/the-truth-about-multiple-h1-tags-in-the-html5-era–webdesign-16824
I would suggest you focus on creating strong and regularly posted, content, as well as other content-focussed SEO best practices. Here is a collection of good SEO resources to check out, if you haven’t already:
