Adding a link
-
I want to add a link to my sidebar that will take readers to another web page (a map tracking my physical location. I tried doing it using the ‘Custom HTML’ widget but the url is too long and it won’t show the whole thing. Had hoped people could just cut and paste it. Is there another way of doing this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Glad to hear you figured it out :) Another way which could be easier if you want to add more code to a Custom HTML widget is to create what you need whilst editing a new post (for example links, bold text, lists), switch to the HTML editor and copy the code, and then paste this into your sidebar widget (see here for more: https://en.support.wordpress.com/links/text-widget-links/).
I hope this helps.

Thanks Karen. I realized all I had to do was add some text (e.g. click here) and then hyperlink that with the url I wanted people to go to. Sometimes I make things harder than they need to be! : )

There are a couple of ways to add links to your posts or pages. The relevant support doc is at https://en.support.wordpress.com/links/
