Add Image from URL
-
In my free blog I can add an image using a file from my PC but the option to add a picture from URL never seems to work. I’m trying to use images from my flickr account but when I paste in the link and move to the next field in the form, it chugs away for a little while, a red cross appears and the insert button remains greyed out.
I’ve tried copyin the link from the flickr share panel including the short link and have tried taking it from teh URL in the browser. It just doesn’t work for me.
Thanks
Martin

Are you sure it’s a direct image link? What is an example of an image URL you are trying to add?

Thank you
I’m either using this
http://www.flickr.com/photos/41231943@N03/5309005557/
or this http://flic.kr/p/9693ozIt works OK if I paste it directly in the post but not if I use the add image/URL panel.

Neither of those are the direct link.
Flicker discourages the display of images hosted on their site without a link back to Flicker.com. Instead they want you to used their embed code which can be found by clicking the “Share This” tab, selecting the “Grab the HTML/BBCode” link and copying and pasting the HTML code in the text box to the page where you want to embed your image.

Thank you virginiadiaz. I guess that makes sense. it’s very disappointing though if you want to use the image for your own link! I think I’m going to look for another service.

The etiquette of using other people’s images is that you ALWAYS give them a link back. If those are your images, for SEO-related reasons, you’re better off hosting them here.
