A decent Event Calendar (not google calendar integration)
-
Could we please have a proper Event Calendar/Scheduler for WordPress.com? Google Calendar is ugly, clumsy and does not display properly on mobile devices, taking an age to load and even then being practically illegible. There are a number available on WordPress.org which appear to do the job well, such as this one:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/event-calendar-scheduler/installation/
It would need to have day, week and month to view, in both calendar and list format.
Thanks for any help you can give!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
re: events calendar
See here for eventbrite > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/setting-up-cc-payment-on-wordpresscom?replies=3#post-744600 Does this help you? -
Hi, thanks for the reply but no, event brute is not useful to me. A main part of my blog is listing events, conferences etc. I want a calendar/schedule/listing that works like google calendar but which is (a lot) more user friendly, mobile compatible and attractive. There is no e-commerce element needed, and it will make up my static front page. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Hi WP.
I can see there are a lot of requests for a WP integrated event calendar. This is something I and lot of WP administrators would benefit from, so I have a suggestion on how to implement this functionality in an easy way:Why not introduce a new field in Page Attributes called: Publish event on [event date]. Then all the postings with this attribute set could be cross published the Calendar widget both on [published date] and [event date].
If the ‘Create Calender’ widget also gets 2 check boxes: Show only pages when [Published] and/or [Date of Event], this would become a tremendous improvement of WP.
Thanks.

Please develop a calendar – the only reason I did a website instead of a blog is because of this, and the website is proving to be a bit too much for me ( plus it costs $$) My site is basically an events calendar – I’d sell my soul for a decent WP.com event calendar so I could ditch the website

Yes, this is exactly what I’m looking for too. An event calendar to publish day, week, month events and that could also be viewed in list format. This is a big component of my website that I’m having trouble finding a good solution for.

Does anyone know how this calendar works? I think it has the things we’re looking for, but I can’t figure out how they created it.

I also found http://www.localendar.com , it says you can use it with Blogger so I assume you could use it with WordPress as well. It does have plugin for the website version of WP

I just figured out the website I linked to (bcsfamilies.com/calendar) is a WordPress.org site, and they probably used the events calendar available on wordpress.org. We can’t use it on wordpress.com. Boo!

Yes, I want to be able to disply upcoming posts so people know what to expect in coming weeks and months. I plan way ahead when I write so that I have time to research and so my posts follow each other more logically. I would like to be able to show that with a calendar.

Please, please, please develop a user-friendly calendar widget that matches the themes. I don’t even care if the calendar is dynamic. I just want it to look good on the site. If that means I need to edit on the page, that’s fine by me. It seems like this is something that could be included in the customization upgrade that I purchased.
Thanks for all the other cool stuff you bring to the yard!

All the charities using WordPress will thank you as well.

Hi WP administrators.
While we are waiting for WordPress.com to “develop an event calendar” please take a look at the WP theme Soundcheck which includes an ‘Upcomming Gigs’
(see theme.wordpress.com/themes/soundcheck/).Is this something you can benefit from?
Have anyone any experience about / how this theme deal with/organize events?
I am considering using this…Regarding all discussions about widgets, plugins and 3.party SW: you can not include this in your wordpress.com -blog. You have to host your own wordpress site (e.g. http://www.godaddy.com/hosting/wordpress-hosting) to benefit from custom plugins.
