For this photo challenge, publish an image that conveys serenity.
Serenity (noun):
The state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled.
While exploring Hong Kong over the holidays, I paid a visit to Tian Tan Buddha, one of the great statues of Buddha in Ngong Ping on Lantau Island. While this statue is impressive up close, my favorite view was from afar, at the entrance to the village that leads visitors to it.

The Big Buddha on Lantau Island in Hong Kong.
The Big Buddha rests on a giant lotus throne, with his right hand raised. He is dignified, content, and wise, and his silhouetted profile in the distance is an impressive sight. I’m not a practicing Buddhist, but I’ve always found the presence of the Buddha calming and grounding, and this statue — and visit to this largest island of Hong Kong — made me feel at peace.
This week, show us your interpretation of serenity.
Indeed a very serene photo with just those few colors.

I love how your entry enhances one’s vocabulary but also doubles as a travel guide to Hong Kong. Makes me want to visit the place with just the picture. Keep it up! 🙂

The picture is indeed beautiful. Thank you for sharing it.
I imagine part of what made your visit so special was actually being there. The difference between reading about something and actually experiencing it is the difference between longing and living.

I’ve heard that the Big Buddha is magnificent in person.
Life has been anything but serene in the campo lately but I’ll try and find something… Thanks for the challenge.
