Contrast. In this photo the contrast comes from the composition and coloring of the sky vs the building – a definite study in contrast courtesy of a recent trip to London. Your own contrast could also be related to color and lighting, but it also might be the items/colors/composition in the photo which don’t normally go together and therefore demonstrate a contrast by being grouped together.

New to The Daily Post? Whether you’re a beginner or a professional, you’re invited to get involved in our Weekly Photo Challenge to help you meet your blogging goals and give you another way to take part in Post a Day / Post a Week. Everyone is welcome to participate, even if your blog isn’t about photography.
Here’s how it works:
1. Each week, we’ll provide a theme for creative inspiration. You take photographs based on your interpretation of the theme, and post them on your blog anytime before the following Friday when the next photo theme will be announced.
2. To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “Weekly Photo Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use the “postaday″ tag.
3. Subscribe to The Daily Post so that you don’t miss out on weekly challenge announcements. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar or RSS

I’ve used the most obvious interpretation – the contrast of colours. But do visit, especially if you write fiction, because I’m trying to get attention to an open invitation 🙂

I absolutely am addicted to sunset and sunrise photos. So, initially, I wasn’t all that thrilled with this photo the lack of pinks, reds, and purples didn’t please me. Yet, as the weeks have gone by, the lack of those colors seems to add to the beauty and contrast in the photo.http://believeanyway.wordpress.com/2012/03/09/weekly-photo-challenge-contrast/

This post challenges the belief that cauliflower is boring. My photos of the colorful varieties contrast greatly with the dull white household flower that is usually just smothered in cheese. http://kitchentangents.com/2012/03/02/10-reasons-to-rediscover-cauliflower/
