Whether you need inspiration, structure, or just a nudge to get (or regain) your blogging momentum, consider taking part in this monthlong event.
Dear Daily Post readers,
It’s been a while!
The past few weeks have been tough and painful for many of us. They also showed us that regardless of where we live or how radically our lives have changed because of COVID-19, expressing ourselves and connecting with others can help us navigate difficult times.
In that spirit, we just announced today that we’ll be sharing daily writing prompts over at Discover throughout April. Since many in this community were (and likely still are) avid writers, bloggers, photographers, and generally lovely humans, we wanted to invite you to join that event, too.
Participating should be very straightforward for any of you who’ve taken part in our past prompts and challenges here at the Daily Post, but if you have any questions, head over to the announcement post and feel free to leave a comment.
We hope to see many of you there,
The WordPress.com Editorial Team

Hooray! Just what I need. I’m into my third week of self isolation. I thought I’d be able to settle into finishing my seventh book but instead I’ve cleaned, cooked, washed, gardened till there’s nothing left to do and no space in the freezer. I couldn’t sit still.
I’m so looking forward to taking part in your new daily prompts and getting some writing creativity flowing again.Thank you, Ben.

Great news, Ben. Welcome back! Please will you check the links in your post?

Good to see a familiar face! đŸ™‚
Do you mean if I will check the tag page in the Reader? I plan to browse it, yes, though it’s unlikely I’ll ever have a chance to read all the posts. (If I misunderstood the question, please let me know!)

The links in your post aren’t working for me. Might just be my browser.

Strange — I just double-checked them, and they work fine for me. I wonder if hard-refreshing (Ctrl+R) the page or trying a different browser might do the trick?

If I click through to the site they’re fine. Thanks, Ben!

Hello! Can I participate in the April Writing Prompts if I have a self-hosted site but am using Jetpack? If so, how?
Thank you!

My sentiments as well… love your name!!

Thank you, the name comes from my granddaughter who couldn’t say my last name. They shortened it for her to “B” and she thought they were talking about a bumblebee.
I’m going to see if you participated in the daily writing challenge and read it. I haven’t written anything yet because nothing comes to mind with “joke.”

Well said Andy. I have struggled to find topics to write about since the daily prompts stopped.

I am pretty new to WordPress and am excited about this! I’ve never done anything like this so it will be a very good experience I’m sure!

Me,too! I think this is a great way to communicate with other people! I’m getting a little restless right about now. I definitely have cabin fever, but this a great way to release some POSITIVE ENERGY…

Thank you Ben for coming back even if it’s only for a month, since the daily prompts stopped I have not wrote a post on my blog perhaps I have only managed a couple. To know you are part of a community is a good motivation for writing. I can not wait. Bring it on.

As I had said I am new to this. I have posted on today’s prompt. But can you kindly check if it is available at the right place !

Thank you for doing this…I hope it continues even past April if possible, though I realize it takes work on your and other’s part. I think the WordPress community of writers has greatly missed the daily writing prompts and most importantly, the sharing of each other’s thoughts within an easy platform. Greatly, greatly appreciated! You have just made the month of snowy April here a whole lot brighter given that we are not able to self-isolate in our yards yet.

Thank you, Ben!! I am so excited to see the prompts are available again. It is always a wonderful way to tap into new ideas for writing this way! Also, I have met so many other bloggers this delightful way, as well! However, I believe the links are broken. I tried clicking on both (that you offered) in your announcement, but they do not take me anywhere… Please advise at your convenience. Hugs to you for re-igniting the Daily Prompt!

Thanks for letting me know about the links, Dawn Marie. I’m not sure what the issue is — I tested and double checked and they’ve worked for me and others, though I’ve heard from another person that they had the same issue. I’d try to hard-refresh the page or try a different browser in case it’s a local glitch. Sorry about the inconvenience; for future reference, you can find all prompts on this page: https://wordpress.com/discover-wordpress/tag/discover-prompts/

Hi, participated in these daily posts before and that was very useful for my sites also to encourage me to write đŸ™‚ Everything was working well at that time, but now it seems that it doesn’t for me. I inserted the tags: discover-prompts and also discoverprompts – my post doesn’t appear in the https://wordpress.com/tag/discover%20prompts
also tried to make ping back to this URL address – I doesn’t work either.
* I am and always was on WP.org (self hosting) – is this ONLY for the WP.com members?
Please help! Thanks đŸ™‚

Hi Tatiana! I’m afraid that in order for your posts to appear in Reader tag pages like the one we use for these prompts, your site needs to be either a WordPress.com site, or a self-hosted site with a paid Jetpack plan. In other words, all your existing followers on WordPress.com can still see your posts in the Reader, but not based on the tag. It’s a limitation we don’t currently have a workaround for.

Hi again, can you please indicate me what plan do I need to use to be able to participate in these prompts? https://jetpack.com/pricing/?from=wporg
I have 4 content websites. Do I have to buy 4 packages of Jatpack?

Hi Tatiana! Any paid plan works for your posts to appear in Reader tag pages. And you’d only need it for the site you plan to use for publishing those posts; no need for a plad for the other sites. I hope this info clarifies it!

Hi Ben, are you saying the $5.00 (personal) will work? I’m making articles on all these websites and I’d like to post them in order to increase traffic. So, I need to buy a plan for each?
LikeLike
Hi again Tatiana — Personal should work, yes, since it’s a paid plan. And if you’d like to publish posts in response to the prompts on ALL four sites, then each site would require a Jetpack plan for them to appear in Reader tag pages.
